In effect since October 29, 2013, the Chauffez Vert financing program, launched by the Quebec government, allows you to replace your oil heating system or water heater with a more efficient and less polluting heating system. This program applies to the conversion of any heating system or water heater whose energy source is a fossil fuel (except natural gas). 

This program is intended first and foremost for individuals who want to reduce their heating costs while benefiting from a heating system that is less harmful to the environment. The amount of financial assistance granted by the program Chauffez Vert varies between $250 and $1275, depending on your needs. Whether you own a single-family home or a multi-unit building, you can take advantage of this financial assistance under certain conditions. 

In addition, important changes concerning heat pumps have come into effect since 2020. The financial assistance for the installation or replacement of an eligible heat pump has been modified.

• The financial assistance is no longer a fixed amount.
• It varies mainly according to the winter heating capacity of the installed system.
• The higher the capacity of the heat pump, the greater the financial assistance will be.
• The financial assistance is $50 for every 1,000 BTU of heating at -8°C and will replace the fixed amount of $650 currently offered.

• Wind Energy
• Solar Energy
• Wood
• Aerothermal (heat pump) – (See the list of heat pump models eligible for the program)

What work is eligible for the Chauffez Vert Program?

• Installation or replacement of an eligible heat pump
• Replacing an oil or propane central heating system with a system that uses eligible renewable energy such as electricity.
• Replacement of an oil or propane water heater with a water heater fuelled by an eligible renewable energy source such as electricity.
• Conversion of a natural gas heating system to a dual energy system
