What are the Chauffez Vert subsidy amounts?

Replacing an oil or propane central heating system

The amount varies depending on the type of home and the energy source being replaced:

  • Single-family home: up to $1,275 (for oil) or $850 (for propane)
  • Semi-detached / row home: up to $875 (for oil) or $650 (for propane)
  • Mobile home: up to $1,075 (for oil) or $600 (for propane)
  • Duplex / triplex: up to $875 per unit (for oil) or $650 per unit (for propane)
  • Multi-unit residential building (max 3 floors / 600 m²): up to $550 per unit (for oil) or $225 (for propane)

Replacing an oil or propane water heater

  • Single-family home: $250 (for oil) or $200 (for propane)
  • Duplex, triplex or multi-unit residential building: $250 per unit (for oil) or $200 per unit (for propane)

What is eligible work?

You may qualify for the Chauffez Vert program if you:

  • Replace an oil or propane central heating system with an electric system (e.g. central heat pump).
  • Replace an oil or propane water heater with an electric model.
  • Remove the oil tank (entirely, above or below ground) in compliance with environmental standards.
  • Convert to a dual-energy system, in some cases combined with the Énergir subsidy.

Only systems that operate entirely on renewable or electric energy are eligible.

What are the eligibility criteria?

  • The home must be located in Quebec and used for residential purposes.
  • The system being replaced must run on oil or propane.
  • Work must be carried out by a qualified contractor.
  • The homeowner must provide proof that the old system was completely removed.
  • Applications must be submitted before March 31, 2026.
