What is the Canadian Oil to Heat Pump Affordability Subsidy?

In November 2022, the federal government launched a grant to support middle- and low-income households wishing to replace their oil heating system. This initiative is also linked to the Canada Greener Homes Grant.

As an accredited contractor, Tran Climatisation offers you the opportunity to obtain the Canadian Oil to Heat Pump Affordability Subsidy , which can amount to up to $10,000. 

What does this subsidy cover?

The subsidy covers the cost of acquiring and installing a heat pump, the safe removal of the oil tank, and the necessary electrical upgrades. 

• Electrical and mechanical upgrades required for the new low-temperature air-source heat pump.
• Safe removal of your oil tank.
• Installation of an electric auxiliary heating system, if required.
• Replacement of other oil-burning domestic equipment, such as water heaters, if necessary.

Please note that hybrid low-temperature air-source heat pumps (combining ducted central heat pumps with a furnace running on oil, gas or propane) are not eligible under the Canadian Oil to Heat Pump Affordability Program. Be sure to check the list of heat pump models eligible for the program.

What types of property are eligible?

Regardless of the type of property, to be eligible, the building must meet the following criteria:

• No more than three storeys above grade.
• Its surface area must not exceed 600 m2.
• It must be designed for year-round occupancy.

The following properties are eligible for the financing program:

• Single-family and semi-detached homes
• Townhouses and row houses
• Mobile homes (on a permanent foundation)
• Permanently moored floating homes
• Low-rise multi-unit residential buildings (MURBs)
• Multi-use buildings (residential portion only)
